Maybe I'm weird, but to me, if you use an average, it's the "Average Champion", not "Grand Champion". I feel if a horse has the ability to show in multiple classes and do well, they deserve the grand. However, you can also apply qualifications to be "granded", such as you can't be disqualified or have any major faults in your entries. And you might have to score a certain amount on each entry or have x amount of entries, that sort of thing.
